Before becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor, Taber worked as a full time campus missionary with the Fellowship of Catholic University Students (FOCUS) for 3 years and for several years as a student leader. Through his experiences working with young adults, Taber recognized a passion for healing and the growing need for mental health services in our society.
After his time with FOCUS, he earned his Master of Arts degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from the University of Texas at Tyler. Before moving to Alabama, Taber worked at Pathstones Counseling Center in Longview, Texas, providing affordable Counseling services to the community. Taber moved to Birmingham in 2019 and treated many individuals at Freedom Professional Counseling. He has experience counseling adults, teens, and couples, and is highly skilled in treating men’s issues, communication/conflict problems, addiction, grief, depression, anxiety, emotional disturbance, and more.
Taber’s integrative approach, tailored to his client’s specific needs, addresses all aspects of the human person - Spiritually, Physically, Intellectually, Emotionally, & Socially. He aims to assist individuals in creating realistic goals, building strength to overcome obstacles, and seeking to find and maintain a sense of peace and freedom.
Taber is a National Certified Counselor from the National Board for Certified Counselors, Inc.
Taber Carlson founded Dakota Counseling on May 1st 2022 and currently resides in Georgia.
